Orthodontic Treatment

Orthodontics, the main purpose of which is to treat dental disorders, is actually divided into two sections. Especially in childhood Detecting possible dental disorders with regular check-ups, creating and implementing a treatment plan to prevent the disorder is the first section of orthodontics.

Thus, with the right applications, problems that may arise in the future are prevented. The first check-up for orthodontic treatment starts at the age of 7-8. Early check-up and, if necessary, treatment ensures that the child has a healthy jaw development, that the permanent teeth are properly aligned, that lip and tongue functions are regulated, and that bad habits are corrected. Thus, the individual experiences a healthy development process both mentally and physically. However, early diagnosis and treatment are often neglected. Therefore, when the individual reaches adulthood, he encounters some orthodontic problems. At this stage, the second section of orthodontic treatment, the correction of existing disorders, comes to the fore. With full briefing and treatment methods with advanced technology, highly successful orthodontic treatments can be performed in adults. That’s why it’s never too late to have a new smile.

Orthodontic Disorders

Negative consequences of orthodontic disorders

  • People who have not had orthodontic treatment for various reasons in their childhood and youth years face many problems in adulthood. These problems are listed as follows:
  • Aesthetic and psychological problems
  • Decay and discoloration at the interfaces of the teeth
  • Gum bleeding, swelling, bruising or receding
  • Excessive contamination and difficulty in cleaning teeth that cannot be brushed easily due to curvature
  • Bad breath
  • Loosening or loss of teeth in later periods

Lingual Orthodontics (Incognito)

Lingual orthodontics is a technique in which the brackets to which the braces are  bound  that apply force to the teeth are placed on the back surfaces of the teeth on the tongue side, instead of the front surfaces on the lip side.  The main advantage of this technique is that it is not visible at all. Today, there are lingual appliances that are specially manufactured for the person. Unlike other lingual treatment methods, treatment results are very successful thanks to its customized structure. Again, thanks to its customized structure, the patient’s adaptation time is very short.

Unlike in other methods, problems such as speech disorder or wound formation in the tongue that spread throughout the treatment period are not observed in these systems. Within 2 weeks, the patient gets used to the brackets in his mouth and continues his life as before. Unlike other lingual treatment methods, its application areas are wider. Almost all malocclusions can be treated with this method. The fact that it is customized shortens the treatment time a little. Since it is produced from gold alloy, it is not allergenic. Because gold is one of the most biocompatible materials.

Orthognathic Surgical Treatments

Orthognathic surgery is a surgical method that helps to correct deformities of the jaws. It is a technique that may be needed when the jaws are not in harmony with each other or when the teeth are not in harmony with the jaws. In this treatment, the Orthodontist and Surgeon work together. The teeth are corrected orthodontically, and then the jaws are surgically repositioned. These procedures not only improve the facial appearance, but also ensure the harmony and proper functioning of the teeth. In this way, the patient can chew and talk more easily. In other words, the method provides both aesthetic and functional improvement.

Patients who have classically had problems with the overlapping of their teeth may notice the defect in their appearance due to the defect in their profile. The upper or lower jaw is at the front or at the behind. Sometimes, when viewed from the front, there is an asymmetrical appearance. Some other patients have functional problems such as biting problems, although there is nothing noticeable in their appearance. In both cases, chewing and feeding problems occur because the teeth do not match exactly.

Orthognathic surgery has been developed to correct this problem in the jaws, to bring the affected jaws into the appropriate position. The treatment is applied on single chin or both chin depending on the severity of the case.

ORTHODONTICS WITHOUT BRACES (Invisalign)

Orthodontic treatment without braces is the correction of certain severity of tooth crowding and misalignment, without the use of traditional metal bands, brackets or braces, by means of specially designed, invisible transparent plaques. In this system, almost invisible, removable serial plates are used. These plates are replaced with the next series every two weeks. Each plate is specially produced for your teeth.

The teeth move little by little with each plate change and reach the final positions determined by your dentist for you. One of the best features of this system is that, unlike conventional treatment, it does not use metal bands, brackets or braces to which food residue and bacterial plaque can cling. Since the appliances used in the treatment are removable, it is easier to achieve oral hygiene compared to other systems. Thus, the risk of bacterial plaque accumulation, tooth decay and gum disease can be reduced.
